PAN AM

Pan American World Airways (or "PanAm") was an American airline between 1927-1991 and 1996–2004. In many ways, they shaped the international airline industry by being first to use jet aircrafts and jumbo jets, as well as computerized reservation systems. When flying distances got longer and longer, the need for a watch that could display dual time zones grew larger. The Rolex GMT Master was developed in cooperation with PanAm. The first GMT (ref. 6542) was a regular Turn-O-Graph (ref. 6202) with a different bezel and a modified movement.
